While at the cabin, we relaxed on the screened-in porch every evening. One dusky night, Emmett ran up to the screen, gave a play bow, and started wagging furiously. Then he laid down and kept wagging. At first I didn't see anything. But he was fixated. So John went outside to check it out. And there it was. Emmett's new friend. Normally Emmett has a pretty strong prey drive.
On dogs, vacation, and campfire stories
A couple times a year, we rent a cabin in the woods for a week. We take the dogs and hike, nap, read, and relax. This time around, we took a few days off before and after our week at the cabin, so we've been "on vacation" for nine straight days. Nine. Bliss. Although, the cabin didn't have any sort of connection to the outside world. I mean, there was a TV (which we never turned on), but the

Therapy dog re-certification? Check!
Here's Emmett wearing his "working" bandana, gazing out the window, probably celebrating the fact that he PASSED HIS TEST!! Wahoo! One of my dog training goals for the year was for Emmett to re-certify as a therapy dog through the Delta Society. And as of yesterday, mission accomplished! Looking back over the list of goals, I think I need to buckle down and start focusing especially on
