Oh My Dog!

obsessed with dogs

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday

05•25•11

While at the cabin, we relaxed on the screened-in porch every evening. One dusky night, Emmett ran up to the screen, gave a play bow, and started wagging furiously. Then he laid down and kept wagging.

Note the blur of motion from his wagging tail.

At first I didn’t see anything. But he was fixated.

There's something there!

So John went outside to check it out. And there it was. Emmett’s new friend.

Normally Emmett has a pretty strong prey drive. He quakes when deer run past our house. But this little guy? Emmett wagged at him. And wagged and wagged.

He just plopped down and stared at him pretty much until it got dark and we made him come inside!

I was so afraid it was going to be a mouse/rat. I think a toad actually does make a nice playmate.

What a cute little chubby toad! I love it when different species make friends. 🙂

I was expecting an opossum! Ty likes toads too – though he tries to pick them up in his mouth. He’s very gentle about it, but I imagine it might be quite stressful for the toad.
