SuperZoo bound!

07•20•15

I’m here in Las Vegas for the SuperZoo trade show! The event officially starts tomorrow, though there are some little things going on today. Here’s the gist: There are 2,170 booths of pet products (I packed comfy walking shoes) from 983 companies. Did you know there were even that many pet product manufacturers?! Holy moly. This is going to be a busy week!

My goal is to do some trend-spotting. I have writing assignments for a few freelance clients, but mostly I’m planning on gathering tons of fun info for the blog.

I don’t have much to report for day one, though! I got in last night and am still adjusting to the time zone (nearly fell asleep at 7 last night… definitely woke up at 4 this morning…) and all the Vegas craziness ($7 for a water…) but super excited for what’s ahead!

Missing these faces, though!

Although, I felt a bit like a traitor this morning when I happily woke up on my own rather than with a kitty chewing on my hair. It was kind of nice. 🙂

What do you guys want me to keep an eye out for? Any specific pet products, innovations, or trends you want me to try to spot? Or brilliant ideas for this year’s holiday gift guide?

Harnesses, please! I know some say that harnesses cause dogs to pull but it’s the opposite with Cash, I also find he’s less reactive to strange dogs when he’s on a harness vs leash attached to collar. He’s terrible on leash, choking and gagging as we walk, I’ve tried a few different harnesses and have noticed a huge improvement with regards to pulling. Due to his deep chest some rub behind and under his front legs (his armpits) and cause injury. Other harnesses that don’t fit that way, under his chest behind his front legs,he can slip out of very easily, he just stops and backs up,he’s out and gone in one very quick and easy step! (very scary!)

Very funny you mentioned sleeping/waking in a bed on your own. I just had my first overnight trip away from Cash, although I missed my pup, I was so giddy at the thought of sleeping in a double bed all by myself without Cash sleeping on my legs, between my legs or partially on my body. Of course this feeling didn’t last long as my daughter decided she didn’t want to share a room with her team mates anymore, she wanted a good nights sleep in her parents hotel room instead. ????

Hope you have a great trip and the boys (and Newt), enjoy all the tasty treats you will bring back with you

Hey! Daisy has all of those problems. We switched to a “Walk Your Dog With Love” harness. It’s adjustable in every direction, so you can pull it away from their front legs and still adjust it around a deep chest. They’re sturdy, made in America, easy to put on, and come in LOTS of different colors. (That’s important, right?) And the harnesses are front-connected, so your dog won’t be able to pull. The harness will turn him to the side if he tries. http://www.walkyourdogwithlove.com/

That time away will be lonely for everyone but the reunion will be joyful!

Toys that are Cooper-Proof, or at least Cooper-Resistant! Hershey is about as hard on toys as he is and I’d love some more options than “yet another rope toy” or the 51st stuffingless fox. On the subject of suffingless toys, how about ones WITHOUT SQUEAKERS?! Sure I don’t have to clean up all the poly-fill but they still get chewed open so she can destroy the squeakers!

Have a great time….that sounds awesome! I’m with Sofia…always on the lookout for the perfect harness. I’m also always looking for tough toys that will stand up to Luke and Sheba! I wonder if West Paw Design will be there? They are supposed to be coming out with some new Zogoflex toys that are softer and squishier….our crew is dying to get their teeth on those!
