Oh My Dog!

obsessed with dogs

A few Friday things

07•08•11

  1. Check out my new banner! (Thanks, Erica!!) Haha! Cooper was so small and round and fuzzy! Now he looks like this:
Still cute, of course, but not all soft and round and squishy! He’s long and lean and a little awkward!
  2. I just finished reading a collection of essays by Malcolm Gladwell. One of the essays, Troublemakers, is about pit bulls. It’s fascinating and an excellent read. If you have some time this week, please do read it! An excerpt: “A pit bull is dangerous to people, then, not to the extent that it expresses its essential pit bull-ness not to the extent that it deviates from it.”
  3. I only have one Positively Pit Bull submission left to post. If you haven’t submitted your dog’s story, please do so! And spread the word. The goal is to feature two amazing family dogs each month.

I’m so glad the weekend is here! There’s something about the short week after a long weekend. It doesn’t feel like four days – it feels like a long, frantic week – because you’re cramming five days’ worth of work into that shorter time.

I hope you have fun plans with your pups this weekend. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Sigh. This is why I’m ready for the weekend. I typed that quote wrong – one word, but it changed the meaning of the sentence. Here’s what it SHOULD be: “A pit bull is dangerous to people, then, not to the extent that it expresses its essential pit bull-ness but to the extent that it deviates from it.”

Despite his puppy craziness, Cooper will be model pit bull with exemplary pit bull-ness. Love the new banner!

And yet I figured it out anyway. It’s a good thing if people read it twice trying to figure out what the quote should say. 🙂

I loved that Malcolm Gladwell essay too.

Thanks, Ann! Can you believe how fast they grow? Although, I love that he’s in the lanky adolescent stage. He’s not used to his long legs yet, and it’s hilarious because he crashes into everything as he plays at rip-roaring speed!
