Meet our foster dog, Scooter!

11•01•10

Last week I mentioned we had some BIG news, and here he is…

Scooter

Although, he’s not really that big!

We picked up our foster pup, Scooter, yesterday morning. He is utterly adorable and a tiny ball of puppy fun. (I promise to have better pictures throughout the week.)

He spent the day testing out all the toys, rushing around the house, snuggling with John, and trying to get the boys to play. Emmett and Lucas were a little hesitant at first, but they’ve both been incredibly gentle with him so far. Emmett doesn’t have a ton of patience for puppies, which we knew going into this, so we’ve been keeping an eye on their interactions. So far, Emmett’s just trying to teach Scooter the rules: Don’t drink when I’m drinking or I’ll growl at you, and don’t try to take my toys from me or I’ll growl at you. Scooter’s a smart little cookie, and he’s definitely catching on! He figured out very quickly who his best bud is going to be:

Lucas is the perfect pillow!

When it was time for bed, we put him in his crate in our room, right by Emmett’s bed. And whoo boy! He put up quite a racket! The little guy was howling and crying. He clearly wanted to snuggle and play some more, but we stayed strong, and he eventually dozed off. This morning he was up bright and early – although it actually isn’t too bright out at 5:45!

Overall, day one was a big success!

I would love to foster some day, but I’d need more well-adjusted dogs of my own first. Scooter looks like a real doll. Good luck!

That is so exciting! I’m interested to see how a puppy will fit in with your crew. Miss M doesn’t have any patience for puppy’s either; I think they steal her thunder. I’m looking forward to the stories.

Oh my gosh, your foster pup is so cute! He will get adopted very quickly. Don’t get too attached! Ace is the same way with foster dogs, and generally ignores them, especially puppies! Funny.
